Anti-PPD Immunoglobulin G in Tuberculosis Patients
نویسندگان
چکیده
Sera from patients with active tuberculosis, treated tuberculosis, non-tuberculous pul monary diseases and from healthy subjects before and 3 months after BCGvaccination were assay ed for immunoglobulin G antibody against purified protein derivative by an enzyme-linked immu nosorbent assay using polystyrene microtitre plate. Marked increase in immunoglobulin G anti body activity in patients with active tuberculosis was seen (P = 0.006) but there were some degrees of overlap between the values for tuberculosis group and those for non-tuberculous pulmonary diseases and healthy subjects. Level of immunoglobulin G antibody activity increased with age in healthy Papua New Guineans (P = 0.044). Activity of immunoglobulin G antibody before and three months after BCG vaccination in seven nurse students was not significantly different (P = 0.133). This assay has potential as a rapid diagnostic tool for detection of active tuberculosis. Comparison of serological responses in two different populations with pulmonary tuberculosis.
Observational studies on the humoural immune responses of the Warao indigenous people from Delta Amacuro, an isolated area, were compared with urban residents of the Venezuelan capital. Mycobacterium tuberculosis-specific reactivities (IgM, IgE, sIgA, IgG and IgG subclasses) were measured by ELISA using PPD and 38-kDa M. tuberculosis antigens. A total of 294 individuals were studied, 162 Warao ...
متن کاملPPD-specific IgG and IgG subclasses in the sera of pulmonary tuberculosis patients.
This study was performed to characterize the humoral immune responses with isotype profiles in Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. PPD-Specific IgG and IgG subclasses were measured using ELISA in 212 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. The values of PPD-specific IgG were significantly higher in pulmonary tuberculosis patients than those in the control group, and were correlated to the sever...
متن کاملAntibody repertoire against the A60 antigen complex during the course of pulmonary tuberculosis.
The A60 antigen complex is a Mycobacterium bovis (BCG) highly immunodominant antigen containing both B and T-cell epitopes. Clinical-serological studies show that elevated anti-A60 titres are present during tuberculosis. We wished to analyze in detail antibody responses against A60 components during the course of tuberculosis. A mixed longitudinal study was designed including individuals at the...
متن کاملStudy of the antibody response against Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigens in Warao Amerindian children in Venezuela.
This study was aimed at investigating alternate methods for serodiagnosis of tuberculosis (TB), which are needed because bacteriologic diagnosis of childhood TB is difficult. A selection of 80 serum and saliva samples were tested from Warao indigenous children under 15 years of age; 34 high TB suspects (28 positive and 6 negative for the tuberculin skin test, TST) and 46 healthy contact childre...
متن کاملThe secretory immunoglobulin A response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis in a childhood population.
We report on the measurement of saliva anti-Purified Protein Derivative sIgA and 38kDa antibodies from 127 children, of whom 31 were strong tuberculosis suspects and 96 were healthy contact children. The results concerning the percentage of children with antibody reactivity to PPD and 38kDa antigens showed that, of these 2 antigens, 38kDa induced higher reactivity in patients positive and negat...
